š Retaking the Series 63: What You Need to Know
If you donāt pass the Series 63 exam on your first try, youāre not aloneāand youāre allowed to retake it. However, FINRA enforces mandatory waiting periods between attempts.
š Series 63 Retake Policy
- 1st Failure: Must wait 30 calendar days before retaking
- 2nd Failure: Another 30-day wait
- After 3rd Failure: Must wait 180 calendar days (6 months) before trying again
These waiting periods are strictly enforced and apply whether you schedule through your firm or as an individual.

- You must pay the exam fee each time you retake
- Scores are not averagedāyou must pass with a 72% or higher on any attempt
- Thereās no lifetime limit on how many times you can take the exam, but the delays can add up
