🧾 Series 65 End-of-Test Procedures – What to Expect
📘 A Quick Guide to What Happens After You Finish the Series 65 Exam
Finishing the Series 65 exam is a big milestone—but what comes next? Here’s a breakdown of the end-of-test procedures, so you know exactly what to expect once you complete your exam at the test center.
✅ 1. Submitting Your Exam
After answering all questions:
- You’ll be prompted to review any unanswered or flagged questions.
- Once you choose to submit the exam, the system will lock your responses and you’ll no longer be able to make changes.
🖥️ 2. Instant Results
Upon submission:
- You’ll receive an on-screen pass/fail result within seconds.
- A printed score report will be provided by the test center staff.
💡 Important Notes:
- You do not receive your raw score if you pass—only a “PASS” notification.
- If you fail, the report will include your score percentage and performance by topic area.
📄 3. Official Score Report
Your score report includes:
- Overall result (PASS or FAIL)
- Candidate ID and exam ID
- Breakdown of performance (if failed):
- Economics
- Investment Vehicles
- Investment Recommendations & Strategies
- Laws, Regulations, and Guidelines
Keep this report for your records, especially if you need to retake the exam or submit it for employment verification.
🔐 4. Secure Logout and Exit
After the exam:
- You’ll be logged out of the test platform by the exam proctor.
- You’ll return your scratch paper, earplugs, and any testing materials provided.
- You’ll then be escorted out of the testing area.
📆 5. If You Passed – What’s Next?
- Your passing result will be reported electronically to the FINRA CRD system.
- Your firm (if applicable) will be able to view your result within 24–48 hours.
- You do not need to take further action unless instructed by your sponsoring firm or employer.
🔁 6. If You Didn’t Pass – What to Know
- You must wait 30 days before retaking the exam.
- If you fail three times, you’ll need to wait 180 days before trying again.
- Use your score breakdown to target your weak areas.
🎓 Pro Tip: Whether you pass or fail, reflect immediately on your test-day experience. Write down what felt easy, what felt hard, and what caught you off guard. This will help refine your prep strategy for future exams or continuing education.
