Yesβthere are prerequisites for taking the Series 24 Exam, which qualifies individuals to supervise and manage branch activities at broker-dealer firms. The Series 24 is a principal-level license, so candidates must meet specific eligibility requirements before sitting for the exam.
β Key Prerequisite: Must Hold a Qualifying Representative License
You must already be registered with a representative-level license before you can take the Series 24. Acceptable licenses include:
- Series 7 β General Securities Representative
- Series 57 β Securities Trader
- Series 79 β Investment Banking Representative
- Series 86/87 β Research Analyst
- Series 22 β Direct Participation Programs
- Series 52 β Municipal Securities Representative
π Most candidates take the Series 24 after passing the Series 7.

- You must be sponsored by a FINRA-member firm
- The firm must file Form U4 on your behalf through the CRD system
